Frequently Asked Questions
Divii is a self-guided, structured online process. It's for people who want to keep things simple and be efficient.
Unlike free templates provided by the government, Divii offers a guided process to help you actually understand the law and make decisions. Then it automatically creates a high-quality, lawyer-approved Separation Agreement that will actually pass the scrutiny of your lawyer.
Unlike mediation, Divii does not require you to attend joint sessions or coordinate schedules. You can work through decisions at your own pace, collaboratively but asynchronously.
Unlike hiring lawyers, Divii does not involve adversarial positioning or ongoing hourly billing. Instead, it provides a clear framework to help you reach agreements efficiently, with the option to involve lawyers later for advice or review.
Divii is designed for people who want clarity, structure, and efficiency without all the emotional and financial cost of a traditional legal process.
Divii uses flat-fee pricing, so you know the cost upfront.
We charge by agreement (rather than per person) so you can get started and invite your spouse to collaborate with you with no additional costs.
Your plan includes:
structured guidance through parenting and financial decisions
built-in calculations and prompts
automated agreement drafting - using the same clauses lawyers use themselves
collaborative editing tools
The cost of separation can vary - a lot. But, with Divii there is no hourly billing and no surprise fees. Pricing depends on the type of agreement you need, and full details are available on the Pricing page. We'll save you thousands and leave you funds to pay for independent legal advice, when you need it.
No, you do not need lawyers to use Divii.
Many people use Divii to work through the hard decisions together and then consult lawyers only at the end, if they choose, to review the final agreement. This often reduces legal fees significantly because most of the work has already been done.
Divii is designed to reduce reliance on ongoing lawyer involvement, not to prevent you from getting legal advice when it’s helpful. Divii is a parallel process to use with the support of lawyers when you choose to get it.
Yes! We hope you do! Divii doesn't replace your lawyer, but it can significantly reduce your legal fees. You can use Divii to streamline your information exchange, negotiations, and agreement drafting and save on hourly billing for these tasks. By entering all your information and answering the simple guided questions, you'll be able to create a full draft Separation Agreement to review with your lawyer. Our collaborative features make it simple to invite your lawyer to review the calculations and document and our full-featured editor will provide all the tools your lawyer needs to add and refine the agreement as they wish.
There are many parts to a separation agreement, and you may be surprised about how many things you may agree on. Exchanging documentation, inputting your information, and answering our simple questions within Divii will produce a finished document to review, and you'll be able to narrow down precisely where you aren't in agreement, which allows you to focus on those issues specifically.
At that point you can book an online mediation session with one of our professional family mediators to discuss the issues that remain unresolved and get some assistance in finding solutions. This way, instead of paying by the hour for the whole process, you only pay for professional help on the tricky discussion points.
Nothing is faster than doing it with Divii. The average length of time it takes to negotiate a separation agreement with lawyers is 2 years! One of the main complaints from those who hire lawyers is that they've spent $20,000 and they still have nothing to show for it.
But with Divii you can have a first draft done in as little as an hour. As long as you have all the information you need about your income, assets, and liabilities, you are ready to create your separation agreement. From there you and your spouse can have it reviewed by a lawyer. If either you or your spouse want any changes, hop into the Editor to easily make the amendments before you sign.

You can work in Divii alone, but if you want to collaborate with your spouse, you can send them an invitation and they can join you to collaborate. Your spouse would need to create an account to access your matter, but they wouldn't pay for their account to collaborate on your agreement.
We offer flat-fee prices per agreement, rather than per user, because we know that in order to reach a workable (signable) document, you both need to be involved in the process and satisfied with the outcome, so we make it very easy to collaborate.
